ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hien-Tu is a French-Canadian artist of Vietnamese heritage, based in Montreal, QC, Canada. In 2018, she rediscovered her childhood passion for painting after dedicating her university years to the study of science. Painting quickly became a powerful means of expression for Hien-Tu, who developed her practice as a self-taught abstract painter through an intuitive and reflective process. Motherhood has played a central role in the evolution of her artistic approach, serving as a powerful catalyst that refined both her vision and her artistic identity.
Through her art, Hien-Tu expresses both her emotions and her thoughts, while her life experiences leave their marks on her work. Drawing inspiration from her feelings and from nature, she creates unique paintings—meeting places between strength and softness, calm and vitality, radiance and introspection.
In addition to painting for herself and private collectors, her works have been selected for various projects, including editorial wedding photography, magazines, and interior design. Through her art, Hien-Tu aims to inspire others to celebrate the beauty of every moment in life.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Through painting, I seek the awakening of the senses and the beauty of the present moment. Life and nature are my main sources of inspiration. Acrylic and watercolor allow me to express both freedom and control of movement. Through the interplay of dilution and layering of mediums, I aim to evoke an encounter with emotions, reflection on the present and the unknown, and the desire to look further. I choose each of my colors in a constant search for emotional resonance. I use color as one would use words, to convey a unique energy in each of my works. My paintings become poems, conversations, or even intimate confidences. Influenced by my personal journey, I want to translate intuition, sensory memory, and the power of positive emotion into visual forms.
In my paintings, I enjoy exploring themes of beauty, inner strength, and the power of femininity through floral, oceanic, and celestial abstractions. I like my works to reveal themselves differently with each viewing, to awaken the senses, redefine the perception of time and space, and open the way to new inspirations day after day. Sources of reflection or forms of mental liberation, my colors invite the viewer on a journey and a quest for well-being, encouraging them to explore their own interpretation of the work.
